Why can two caravan or motorhome valuations be different?
The short answer
Because they are answering slightly different questions. One may be an estimate from model data, another an offer to buy today; one may assume average condition, another may have seen the damp reading. What is included, how the vehicle is moved and who carries the risk all vary.

Common reasons for a gap
- One figure is a guide estimate; the other is a firm offer to buy
- One assumes average condition; the other reflects an actual inspection
- Damp, floor condition or mechanical faults were not known when the first figure was given
- Collection, transport or recovery is included in one and not the other
- Fees or commission come out of one figure later
- Outstanding finance has to be settled from the proceeds
How to compare them fairly
- Ask whether the figure is an estimate or an offer
- Ask what has been assumed about condition and history
- Ask what comes off it — fees, transport, commission
- Ask when and how you would be paid
Why our figure comes after a conversation
We would rather give you one considered figure based on your actual vehicle than a headline number that changes when someone looks at it. Nothing we say is a guarantee of what any other buyer would offer.
