Further east, towards Clitheroe and into Bowland, storage tends to be on a farm or smallholding, with tourers kept under a barn or tarpaulin between trips into the Dales or the Trough of Bowland. Burnley and Blackburn sit between the two patterns, with a mix of yard storage and home driveways depending on the street.

Owners along the Ribble valley often tow relatively short distances, favouring the Dales, the Trough of Bowland and the Lakes over long motorway runs, which keeps chassis and running gear in reasonable order even on older vehicles. On the coast, exposure to salt and wind means roof seals, skirting and awning rails wear faster than they would twenty miles inland, and it's routine rather than unusual to find damp in a van that's spent a decade on a Fylde park.

Preston's position at the meeting point of the M6, M55 and M61 makes it one of the better-connected towns for storage supply in the county, and vehicles kept there tend to see genuinely regular use rather than sitting idle for months. Chorley and the towns along the M61 corridor follow a similar pattern, with reasonably priced yard storage supporting active ownership.
