Selling an older or damaged touring caravan
Not every caravan is a tidy late-model tourer with full history. Plenty have been stood behind a garage for years, or came back from one bad trip and never went out again. Those are still worth an enquiry.
Caravans we'll happily look at
- Caravans that have been stored unused for several seasons.
- Known damp, including caravans that have failed a habitation check.
- Cosmetic damage: cracked panels, crazed windows, torn upholstery, water staining.
- Non-working appliances — heating, fridge, hob or water heater.
- Perished tyres, seized brakes or a caravan that can't currently be towed.
- Missing paperwork, missing keys or an unclear service history.
- Caravans on a storage site or farm with awkward access.
What we can't help with
- Static caravans.
- Campervans.
- Commercial vans.
- Cars.
- Caravans you aren't legally entitled to sell, or where the ownership position can't be established at all.
If you're not sure which category yours falls into, ask. It costs nothing and we'll tell you straight.
Don't fix it first
Repairs on an older caravan rarely return their cost when selling, and a partial repair can make condition harder to assess. Leave it as it is, describe it accurately, and let the figure reflect reality.
Photographs matter more here
On an older caravan, photographs do most of the work. Useful shots include each side and both ends, the roof if you can safely see it, the interior from both ends, the washroom, any damage close up, and the tyres. Poor weather or a dark storage barn is fine — clarity beats presentation.
Access and collection
Tell us where the caravan actually is and what's around it: a field with a soft gateway, a locked compound with restricted hours, or a tight driveway all change how collection is arranged. It's much better dealt with before a visit than on the day.
Being straight about outcomes
For some very old or heavily damaged caravans, the realistic value is low, and occasionally we'll tell you it isn't one for us. We'd rather say that quickly than raise expectations. Where we can help, the process is the same as for any other caravan — see how it works.
Older caravan to move on?
Describe it as it is and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
