How does payment work when selling a caravan or motorhome?
The short answer
Payment is made by bank transfer to an account in the seller's name, arranged at collection once the paperwork and identity checks are complete. Where finance is outstanding, the settlement figure is dealt with as part of the transaction rather than left for you to chase.

Why the account name matters
Paying only into an account matching the person entitled to sell protects both sides. If you are selling for a relative or an estate, tell us early so the right arrangements and evidence can be put in place.
Where finance is outstanding
If an agreement is still running, the lender's settlement figure is taken into account and dealt with as part of the sale. Any balance beyond the settlement goes to you.
Identity and ownership checks are normal
Before money moves, we check that the person selling is entitled to sell. That is the same protection you would want from any buyer, and it is why paperwork and ID are looked at during the collection visit rather than afterwards.
