How do I prepare my motorhome for sale?
The short answer
Clear out your belongings, drain the water and waste, gather the V5C, MOT certificates and service records, note the current mileage and take clear photographs. Do not spend money on repairs or a fresh MOT before you know what the motorhome is worth.

Clear it out
- Remove personal belongings, bedding, crockery and tools
- Drain fresh water, waste and the toilet cassette
- Empty the fridge and lockers
- Decide what stays — bike rack, gas bottles, awning, satellite dish
Gather the paperwork
- V5C registration certificate in your name, or an explanation if it is missing
- MOT certificates and advisory notes
- Mechanical service history, including cambelt work
- Habitation check reports if you have them
- All keys, fobs, alarm codes and manuals
- Finance agreement details if an agreement is still running
Note the vehicle facts
- Current mileage
- Registration, make, model and base vehicle
- Berths and belted travelling seats
- Anything that does not work, mechanically or in the habitation area
Think about access
- Whether the motorhome can be driven, or needs a transporter
- Height, width and length restrictions where it is parked
- Storage-site opening hours and whether someone must let us in
