How do I prepare my touring caravan for sale?
The short answer
Empty it, clean and air it, find whatever paperwork you have and take clear photographs inside and out. That is enough. Preparation is about letting the caravan be assessed accurately and letting collection go smoothly — not about spending money on repairs before you know its value.

Clear it out
- Remove personal belongings, bedding, crockery and tools
- Empty the water system, waste and toilet cassette
- Take out food, and anything perishable from lockers
- Decide what is staying with the caravan, such as an awning or gas bottles
Clean and air it
A wash down, a vacuum and a few hours with the windows open make a real difference to how the interior reads on inspection, and cost nothing but time.
Gather the paperwork
- CRiS registration document if you have it
- Proof of ownership or purchase
- Service and habitation records
- Manuals, keys, spare keys and handsets
- Finance agreement details if anything is outstanding
Photograph it
- Front, back and both sides in daylight
- The full interior, including the washroom and bed area
- Close-ups of any damage, soft flooring or damp staining
- The CRiS document or serial plate if available
Think about access
- Whether we can reach the caravan with a tow vehicle
- Storage site or seasonal pitch rules, and whether someone must let us in
- Whether the tyres hold air and the hitch and brakes are usable
