Selling a touring caravan

A touring caravan is described by a handful of things a buyer checks first: the manufacturer and model, the model year, the berth and layout, whether it is single or twin axle, and the MTPLM. Those details sit on the chassis plate, in the handbook and on the CRiS record, and getting them right changes the conversation from a guess to a valuation.

After specification comes history. Habitation checks, damp readings, service records, the keys and handbooks you hold, and anything that has been repaired. None of that makes a caravan unsellable — it decides how confidently anyone can price it without seeing it.

This cluster gathers the caravan-specific answers. Motorhome questions are handled separately, because the base vehicle, mileage and MOT change the picture enough that shared answers would mislead.

Do I need caravan service and habitation records to sell?

The short answer

They are helpful, not essential. Records make it easier to confirm how the caravan has been maintained and what the last damp readings were. If they are missing or incomplete, say so — the inspection then carries more of the assessment, which is normal for older caravans.

What photographs should I provide when selling my caravan?

The short answer

Daylight photographs of all four sides, the full interior including the washroom, the bed area, and close-ups of any damage, damp staining or soft flooring. Add the CRiS document or serial plate if you have it. Honest photographs of faults save time for both of us.

Do I need to empty and clean my caravan before selling it?

The short answer

Please empty it of personal belongings, food and water before collection, and drain the toilet cassette. Cleaning is not required but helps the inspection read fairly. Anything left behind is assumed to be staying, so tell us if an awning or gas bottles are not included.
